HomeBite is a marketplace platform which enables 'home chefs' to sell home cooked food (including authentic multicultural cuisines, baked goods and even catering food) to eaters in their city.
Currently HomeBite is available on both iOS (via the Apple App Store) and Android (via the Google Play Store).
Yes, we use stripe as our secure payments gateway making your bank account and credit card details extremely safe with encryption and 100% PCI compliant.
Anyone who loves cooking and complies with our Terms and Conditions can join HomeBite. We love and want to encourage diversity, no matter your background and the type of food you love to cook.
We require anyone who wants to sell on HomeBite to provide basic details. These details are full name, email address, confirmed phone number, acceptance of our Terms and Conditions, and the creation of a stripe account where you will provide your payment details in order to receive payments for orders. Home Chefs need to provide all these details before their kitchen is visible and before they start accepting orders. These details help ensure Home Chefs are aware of how the process works and what’s required of them prior to accepting any orders.
If you believe you can fulfil the requirements and comply with the Terms and Conditions, you can find the ‘become a chef’ button in the profile section of the app. There you will be required to complete and provide the required information so that we can verify you, this includes completing your stripe registration for payments. This can take some time but while you wait we recommend you start creating your menu.
At the moment delivery needs to organised by the home chef if they want to offer it. We do not currently have a delivery provider. That being said, it is completely upto you as the home chef if you want to provide delivery, you can set a maximum distance, the amount you want to charge per km you travel, and even the days delivery is available.
We use stripe as our payment processing partner. Our payment flow has been designed to be fair and safe for both the eaters and home chefs. When an order is placed to your kitchen a payment hold is placed on the credit card of the eater. Once you (the home chef) accept the order we remove the hold and take the money out of the eaters credit card. The money is then held in stripe and is released to you (the home chef) after the order has been marked as delivered or picked up.
Once an order is completed the money is automatically released to your stripe account; the money will then be deposited in your linked BSB and Account number within 2-7 business days. You can login to your stripe account at any time to check the status of your payments
Becoming a Chef on HomeBite is completely free. The only fee you incur is the transaction fee when you accept and complete an order. The total fee is 10% per transaction; this is made up of 7% commission and a 3% processing fee to help cover our internal costs of running the app and providing a safe and secure PCI compliant experience for all.
Yes you are, you will need to complete 10 orders a month to have your total transaction fee reduced from 10% to 7.5% (the 7.5% is made up of a 4.5% commission and 3% processing fee). The discount kicks in as soon as you complete your 10th order during the current month and rolls over into the next month. If in the next month you don’t complete more than 10 orders then your transaction fee goes back up to 10%
No you don't. You can be your own boss and decide your working hours by setting delivery and/or pick up days and times. You can also change this at any time.
You can stop accepting/receiving orders whenever you like, we understand that you might be going on vacation or just want a break. You can set an 'out of kitchen' status which will stop you from receiving new orders and all customers who visit your page will be informed you are currently away.
The price you charge for your product, is completely up to you. We recommend you take into account the costs of your ingredients and the time you spend making the items and deciding on your profit margin. It's also wise to search for comparable dishes / products within the app, and within your local area, to get an idea of market prices.
Whether you offer delivery and how much you charge for is completely up to you. We know that home chefs like to do things differently, some deliver themselves, others have delivery partners or couriers (depending on their product type). You can set and change your delivery fee and settings anytime in the kitchen settings (under profile).
Yes you can! If you have already created your kitchen (as a Home Chef), you can switch your app view to an eater in the profile tab (You will see a switch).
